Dr Joanne Richardson BDS (Univ. of Sydney)

Joanne graduated from the University of Sydney in 1978, following in her father’s footsteps as a dentist, and then worked in her father’s Sydney practice for over 20 years. After sailing to the Whitsundays she opened a practice in Airlie Beach, enjoying the relaxed Queensland lifestyle for over ten years while raising two children.

Once the children grew up she started travelling and working, as well as running a volunteer dental outreach program in India and Nepal for the last fifteen years. Joanne has worked in Singapore, New Zealand, Christmas Island, Indonesia and Vietnam, as well as for the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Western Australia. Joanne still travels regularly to Nepal to train community health workers in preventive dentistry.

Joanne enjoys bush walking, mountaineering and sailing, and meeting new people. As an active member of Rotary and Zonta, she is passionate about helping to make the world a better place by helping those less fortunate.

Dr Elliot Naftal BDent (Univ. of Sydney)

Elliot has been with our practice for 8 years. He has a calm and easy-going nature which his patients really appreciate. He takes real care to explain the different procedures and answer any questions you may have to put you at ease.

He is a big believer in preventive dentistry and patient education and is also committed to furthering his own education as a dentist. Elliot frequently attends advanced learning courses to maintain his knowledge and always keep up with the most current theories and practices in dentistry.

Outside of the practice, Elliot is a very outdoorsy person who loves ocean swimming, golf and nature walks. He is a keen follower and participator in most sports and he also actively meditates.
